Tobi is the owner of a private practice in Michigan, which provides outpatient individual, group and family counseling services. Prior to going into private practice, Tobi served as the clinical director of an outpatient mental health and substance abuse agency, an outpatient clinician at an outpatient mental health and substance abuse agency and a clinician at a residential facility for adolescent females who had experienced physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse and neglect. Tobi uses CBT, DBT and Positive Psychology in her clinical work. She believes that individuals have the tools within themselves to improve their lives but just need assistance in how to use those tools in the most effective way to reduce and/or eliminate their symptoms.
Tobi has a child and adolescent specialization, is a certified advanced alcohol and drug counselor as well as a certified clinical supervisor in addictions in the state of Michigan. She is a board certified expert in traumatic stress. Tobi also has experience with topics related to chronic health conditions and assisting individuals with understanding the mind/body connection.
Tobi Russell received her Master of Science degree in clinical psychology from Eastern Michigan University in 1998 and received a Master of Arts degree in counseling from Oakland University in 2007. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Oakland University in the counseling department.
