How Virtual Reality Is Bridging the Gap Between Healthcare and Gaming

VR in Healthcare

What We Learned from Two of the Biggest Conferences in the World – HIMSS and GDC

We are standing at the edge of change in the digital healthcare industry, and it’s all thanks to Virtual Reality.

You may be asking yourself, “How does he know?!

Well, in the last couple of weeks, I attended both HIMSS (biggest healthcare conference in the world) and GDC (most important gaming developers conference in the world).

For me, it is now crystal clear.

VR will spillover from GDC to HIMSS in the months to come and will impact the healthcare market in ways that will benefit everyone involved.

Current State of Healthcare and Gaming

At the Game Developers Conference (GDC), VR was everywhere you looked, at every booth in every corner. Throughout the conferences’ many panels and discussions, there was a constant conversation on VR: how to improve hardware, create better experiences online or offline, apply the technology in other industries and offer more affordable solutions.

It was all about VR at GDC ’18

At the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Conference (HIMSS), it all swirled around three major issues:

Lack of Access – one of the major problems that any healthcare system is facing is lack of access. Hundreds of companies offering Telemedicine platforms, either PC or mobile based. VR will do it much better.

Low Compliance – once patients leave the hospitals the compliance rate drops drastically, they then don’t follow on with their prescribed treatment and the result is readmission that various companies are trying to solve in different ways. VR will do it much better.

Ineffective Ways to Quantify Outcomes – various companies are offering different solutions to improve the performance of different providers, but these solutions are usually expensive, very complex to operate and spreads to different verticals. VR will do it much better.

Yet VRHealth is still one of the few medical VR company in the world, not only at HIMSS — which made us feel like rockstars!

It enabled us to identify a major gap in the industry and we are now more confident than ever that our solution will be able to fill it.

VR as a Game Changer for Healthcare

After attending those conferences, the picture is now clearer than ever: VR will be a game changer for the Healthcare industry. It solves many of the problems that healthcare has been trying to solve for years.

VR has the ability to improve access, to help physicians connect with their patients and to provide real-time data that will dramatically improve evidence-based care.

This is exactly what VRHealth is all about. We are the first certified medical VR company in the world. We develop breakthrough medical and wellness applications using Virtual Reality to deliver an enhanced experience and real-time data analytics.

Additionally, the VRHealth Analytics Portal utilizes machine learning to provide adaptive exercises and enhanced recovery outcomes. It provides a full-body VR experience for both in clinics and at home, allowing patients and clinicians to work remotely.

My guess is that many of you have probably never even tried VR yet. We believe this will change in the very near future, sooner than you can imagine. We are proud to be at the forefront of this up-and-coming industry.

So we invite you to share our vision: VR will disrupt and change Healthcare as we know it.
